In the first part of a series on smartphone photography, professional photographer Tiffany Warner explains how you can capture beautiful images of fungi in the Macedon Ranges.
📍 Sanatorium Lake, Lions Head Rd, Mount Macedon
Sanatorium Lake, towards the top of Mt Macedon, is a great spot to find fungi. Take your time on the easy 2.5km walk around the lake and surrounding area, and explore the fallen logs and tree trunks. It’s amazing what you’ll find.
The best times to spot fungi are early in the morning and after rain during the cooler months. Plan your visit accordingly and be sure to have your smartphone charged. Some fungi are tiny, only a few millimetres, so don’t be afraid to get up close with your phone to really capture their beauty.
💡 Tip: To ensure the fungi in your photos appear as sharp as possible, get up nice and close to them and tap the spot on the screen where you want to focus.
Happy snapping!
