The photograph above shows Malmsbury Cash Store (c.1880), a general store built in 1865 and run by the Tucker family.
Tucker sought to extend the building in 1874 and install a footpath abutting Mollison St. The material used for the footpath was local bluestone, cut at the new stone sawmill adjoining the Coliban River between the bridge and the viaduct.
Today the Malmsbury Cash Store building is the home of Malmsbury Bakery, and the bluestone pavement is still there. The means of transport you now see parked alongside it, however, relies on horsepower of a different kind.
