As part of a series on smartphone photography, professional photographer Tiffany Warner explains how you can capture the drama of Stanley Park Waterfall.
๐ Stanley Park Waterfall, Salisbury Rd, Mount Macedon
Now is the best time to visit Stanley Park Reserve. It’s a great place for a family picnic, with shelters, toilets and barbecues all in its vicinity. Turritable Creek runs through the reserve and you can view the waterfall from a platform not far from the playground or take the steps to the bottom and follow the walking track. Dogs are permitted on a lead.
At the base of the waterfall you will see lots of lush ferns and different types of vegetation. If you are lucky you may spot a kangaroo or an echidna, if you head towards the Waterfalls Rd exit before returning to the recreation area.
This photo was taken from the other side of the waterfall (opposite the viewing platform) to capture a different angle. I held my phone upright to fit in all of the waterfall. I framed the waterfall with vegetation to add interest.
๐ก Tip: To make water appear smooth and fast-flowing, use the Long Exposure Mode on an iPhone (put it into Live Mode first). On other phones, reduce the shutter speed to a slow speed.
Happy snapping!
