Here’s what’s on for children in the Macedon Ranges during the Easter school holidays.
Saturday, April 8
Community Gisborne Easter Festival: Easter egg hunts (booking required), arts and crafts, carnival rides, face painting, egg-and-spoon and sack races. Gisborne Masonic Lodge, Aitken St, Gisborne. 10am-4pm. $15.
Community Blackwood Woodchop and Easter Carnival: Live music, gumboot-throwing competition, tug-of-war, pet show, treasure hunt, market stalls, face painting, games and races. Woodchopping competition begins at 10am. Street parade at 11am. Blackwood Recreation Reserve, Recreation Reserve Rd. 10am-6pm. Adult $12.50 (earlybird), Child (under-16) free.
Community Easter Family Fun: Face-painting, petting zoo, Easter egg hunt, and free barbecue. St Paul’s Anglican Church, Main St, Romsey. 11am-1pm. Free.
Sunday, April 9
Egg Hunt Easter Extravaganza: Easter egg hunt (11.45am-4pm). Plus live music with Brad & Naeve. DV Cider, 39 Darraweit Valley Rd, Darraweit Guim. 12pm-8pm.
Tuesday, April 11
Outdoors PGL Easter Holiday Camps: Holiday camp program for children aged 8-14. Three-day camp with accommodation provided starts today. Or attend for just the day. PGL Campaspe Downs, 1302 Kyneton-Trentham Rd, Tylden. Day camp $85, Three-day camp $499.
Swimming Intensive Learn to Swim Program: Children can improve their swimming skills and confidence in 30-minute classes. Four-day program. For ages 3+. Gisborne Aquatic Centre, Aitken St. Tue-Fri 9am-12pm. $68.80.
Swimming Inflatable Fun: Children can play on the pool inflatable. Gisborne Aquatic Centre, Aitken St. 1pm-3pm.
Wednesday, April 12
Outdoors PGL Easter Holiday Camps: Attend day two of a holiday camp program for children aged 8-14. PGL Campaspe Downs, 1302 Kyneton-Trentham Rd, Tylden. Day camp $85.
Art Crystal Drawing: Draw crystal shapes and paint them with watercolour, masking fluid and salt to create light and texture. For ages 7+. 34 Mollison St, Kyneton. 10am. $30.
Workshop Fungi Town Caravan – Kyneton: An introduction to the fascinating world of fungi. Children learn about how fungi grow and their role in ecology. They then make fungi sculptures out of paper, tape and oil pastel. Kyneton Town Hall, Mollison St. 10am-12pm. $15.
Film Puss in Boots – The Last Wish: Puss in Boots learns he has burnt through eight of his nine lives. So he sets out on a quest to restore them. Gisborne Library, Hamilton St. 11am-12.45pm. Free.
Clay Air Dry Clay: Build a creature, a tiny house, a bowl or two, or an ocean scene, it’s up to you. Two sessions (April 12 & 19). 34 Mollison St, Kyneton. 1pm-3pm. $75.
