Professional photographer Tiffany Warner explains how you can make small flowers stand out.
Spring is the perfect time to photograph flowers. Capturing small flowers can be especially enjoyable when experimenting with different angles.
While the most natural approach is often to shoot from directly above, I chose to capture these seaside daisies from the side to highlight their varied heights. This, combined with a shallow depth of field (where only part of the image is in sharp focus), creates an intriguing effect. Try toggling your phone camera’s Portrait mode on and off to see the differences.
This technique can be applied to any small flowers or low-growing grasses. Try capturing a bee or butterfly in your shot to further enhance visual interest.
💡 Tip: When photographing small flowers or grasses, try shooting from the side rather than from above.
Happy snapping!
