Professional photographer Tiffany Warner explains how to capture patterns in tree trunks.

Capturing close-ups of tree trunks can be especially fun. There is so much detail and colour you can capture, not to mention the pretty moss or fungi anchoring itself to the bark.
You could fill the whole frame with an interesting or unusual trunk, such as this red cedar. However, you can also add interest by framing the trunk to the side to show a bit of the background and indicate where you are located.
It’s easy to be drawn in by the intricate patterns in the bark. Try getting up close to some older trees, or seek out gums, oaks, or pines, and see how much detail you can capture.
๐ก Tip: Get up close to tree trunks to capture the detail.
Happy snapping!
