How am I doing?
Your Macedon Ranges is researched, written, and edited by me alone. Compiling it takes me 10+ hours each week. I love doing it, and the response has been incredible. I’m very grateful for your kind words.

MT MACEDON MAPLES
Professional photographer Tiffany Warner explains how to capture vibrant autumn colour.

📍 Top of the Range, Mt Macedon
Autumn is the ideal time to visit the gorgeous Canadian Maples on top of Mt Macedon. The vibrant red foliage set against a backdrop of green creates a photographer’s dream. The trees are planted in a circle, allowing them to be captured from multiple angles.
In this image, I have balanced the composition using the rule of thirds horizontally. I also used the path as a leading line to give the viewer a sense of walking through the tree-lined avenue. It doesn’t matter that the full height and width of the trees isn’t captured -there is often more impact and colour when you move in closer to your subject.
💡 Tip: Try combining the rule of thirds with leading lines in the same image.
Happy snapping!
Tiffany

📷 In addition to portrait and commercial work, Tiffany Warner runs short courses on smartphone photography for social media. See more of her images on Instagram.

In the news
🔥 MACEDON RANGES: Fire restrictions will end on April 22. “It is still dry in many areas, so any private burn-offs should have someone monitoring it at all times, with enough water and resources on hand to effectively contain and extinguish it,” CFA acting Assistant Chief Fire Officer Michael Hembrow said.
🎖️ MALMSBURY: The heritage-listed Malmsbury War Memorial Gates, erected in 1922, will be restored with a grant from the state government. The work will include regilding the soldiers’ names.
🚀 KYNETON: An exploding rocket started a fire that quickly burned through five hectares at Kyneton on March 30. A group of Monash University students were conducting an experiment with rocket engines when the grassfire took hold.
