Welcome to Your Macedon Ranges for Monday, April 15, to Sunday, April 21.
🌷 Michael McCoy, a Macedon Ranges local and host of ABC TV’s Dream Gardens, will be running an online gardening symposium this month. The symposium will explore ways to support and encourage biodiversity in the home garden. The impressive list of contributors features Isabella Tree, James Hitchmough, John Little, Claudia West, and Emma Cutting, founder of The Heart Gardening Project and the Melbourne Pollinator Corridor. The three-hour symposium will be held on April 27 and will be available to watch for a month.
🍂 Malmsbury Village Fayre is due to make a welcome return on April 28 after several years beset by the pandemic and flooding. Attractions will include storytelling, face-painting and a bubble fairy, along with live music, food trucks, and more than 50 stalls. Is there a more beautiful local setting in autumn than Malmsbury’s botanic gardens?
đź“· Autumn is certainly putting on a show. This week, photographer Tiffany Warner explains a technique she uses to capture the season’s vibrant colours, and how you can do the same with your smartphone. Check out her advice below the event guide.

How am I doing?
Your Macedon Ranges is researched, written, and edited by me alone. Compiling it takes me 10+ hours each week. I love doing it, and the response has been incredible. I’m very grateful for your kind words.
If you find value in the newsletter, I’d so appreciate you subsidising my coffee habit … it helps with the collating and the writing!

HONOUR AVENUE
Professional photographer Tiffany Warner shares a technique for capturing autumn in all its glory.
Autumn is my favourite season. I love the colourful leaves as they dance in the wind, reflecting different shades in the sunlight.
In this image I have concentrated on the leading lines formed by the two rows of tree trunks. Having those rows lead to an explosion of red and green makes the scene even more compelling. Also, by holding the phone upright, I have emphasised the towering height of those tremendous trees.
đź’ˇ Tip: Look for leading lines that guide the viewer to the main part of the image.
Happy snapping!
Tiffany
đź“· In addition to portrait and commercial work, Tiffany Warner runs short courses on smartphone photography for social media. See more of her images on Instagram.
