Their discussion, which is part of Spudfest, will be moderated by ABC Radio’s Jacinta Parsons. The photograph above shows Malmsbury Cash Store (c.1880), a general store built in 1865 and run by the Tucker family.
Tucker sought to extend the building in 1874 and install a footpath abutting Mollison St. The material used for the footpath was local bluestone, cut at the new stone sawmill adjoining the Coliban River between the bridge and the viaduct.
Today the Malmsbury Cash Store building is the home of Malmsbury Bakery, and the bluestone pavement is still there. However, the means of transport you now see parked alongside it relies on horsepower of a different kind.

💰 MACEDON RANGES: Rates are set to rise by 3 per cent, in line with the maximum increase that councils can impose. Mayor Dom Bonanno said the draft budget for the Macedon Ranges had an increased “back to basics” focus. A public consultation period will run until May 8.
🍂 MACEDON: The Shire Council’s Autumn Festival strategy to disperse tourists away from Honour Avenue did little to deter the thousands of tourists who rushed to the street over Easter.
📬 GISBORNE: Post Office manager Joe Vella is a familiar face in Gisborne, but he may also be recognised if he were to travel to different parts of the country. Having previously appeared in Channel 9’s The Block, he now features in Australia Post’s latest advertising campaign.
