Welcome to Your Macedon Ranges for Monday, April 29, to Sunday, May 5.
🥔 On Saturday, as part of Spudfest, you can go on a bus tour to the “spud huts” that provided basic accommodation to the itinerant spud diggers who worked on Trentham’s potato farms. Hear incredible true stories and see what life was like for those who performed this backbreaking work. The traditional Spudfest carnival day will take place on Saturday in Trentham but festival events will be held across the weekend. Make sure you check the festival program.
🍂 When I saw this week’s photograph from Tiffany Warner, my reaction was: “You took that with your phone?!” The results that can be achieved with a smartphone are amazing. See Tiffany’s photo and her advice below the event guide.

How am I doing?
Your Macedon Ranges is researched, written, and edited by me alone. Compiling it takes me 10+ hours each week. I love doing it, and the response has been incredible. I’m very grateful for your kind words.
If you find value in the newsletter, I’d so appreciate you subsidising my coffee habit … it helps with the collating and the writing!

SMOKE
Professional photographer Tiffany Warner explains how additional elements can enhance your photographs.
A weather event can enhance a photograph, whether it be a sunrise, a sunset, mist or a storm. Smoke can also work well, as was the case in this image of Honour Avenue.
I took advantage of the sun shining through smoke from nearby fires to capture an atmospheric shot of the trees.
I zoomed in to frame the shot tightly, and I also managed to sneak a bit of the sun into the top right. You can see that it’s cast a wonderful golden glow onto the trees.
Although this photo was taken a couple of weeks ago, leaves are still clinging to the trees in Honour Avenue. If you’re quick, you can capture the splendour.
💡 Tip: Look out for weather events or smoke. They can transform a photo into something special.
Happy snapping!
Tiffany
📷 In addition to portrait and commercial work, Tiffany Warner runs short courses on smartphone photography for social media. See more of her images on Instagram.
