Welcome to Your Macedon Ranges for the week of Monday, June 14, to Sunday, June 20.
First the lockdown, then the storm. What a crazy few weeks. I hope you and your families haven’t been too badly affected.
Several events that were postponed because of Covid restrictions now have new dates. Performances of the medical musical Harmony Hospital, at Kyneton’s Bluestone Theatre, will take place on August 28 and 29. And Museum Undone, at Kyneton Museum, will run from June 24-27.
Two shows at Kyneton Town Hall have also been rearranged. Comedian and musician Jude Perl will be appearing on October 8 and 1927 will be performing on March 12 next year.
Covid restrictions and the damage caused by Wednesday night’s wild weather mean that, once again, if you have any doubts about whether an event listed below is going ahead, you should check with the organisers before attending.

With thanks to Malmsbury Historical Society.
The photograph above shows Malmsbury Cash Store (c.1880), a general store built in 1865 and run by the Tucker family.
Tucker sought to extend the building in 1874 and install a footpath abutting Mollison St. The material used for the footpath was local bluestone, cut at the new stone sawmill adjoining the Coliban River between the bridge and the viaduct.
Today the Malmsbury Cash Store building is the home of Malmsbury Bakery, and the bluestone pavement is still there. The means of transport you now see parked alongside it, however, relies on horsepower of a different kind.
