How am I doing?
Your Macedon Ranges is researched, written, and edited by me alone. Compiling it takes me 10+ hours each week. I love doing it, and the response has been incredible. I’m very grateful for your kind words.
If you find value in the newsletter, I’d so appreciate you subsidising my coffee habit … it helps with the collating and the writing!

Blurry BACKGROUND
Professional photographer Tiffany Warner shares a simple tip to make your photos pop.
đź“Ť Woodend clock tower
Have you ever wondered how to achieve a nice depth of field (blur) in your images? This simple tip will help you do it in no time.
The key is to leave plenty of room between the subject and the background.
In this image, I wanted the roses in focus and the clock tower in the background to be blurred. I got up close to the flowers until I had the desired view, then I tapped the screen to focus (make sure you’re in Portrait mode).
And bingo, the background melted away, giving me a blurred image of the clock tower.
Practise this technique with objects around your house or garden. Try blurring the house in the background by focusing on something interesting in the foreground. With a bit of practice, you can become very creative.
đź’ˇ Tip: Choose a foreground subject to focus on closely, leaving distance between it and the background subject.
Happy snapping!
Tiffany
