🎆 Fireworks will light up the sky on Friday night to mark the start of Woodend Winter Arts Festival. Japanese drummers Taikokoro and the Royal Melbourne Hospital Scrub Choir will also entertain the crowd at the Buffalo Stadium. WWAF events will run throughout the long weekend.
🎨 As part of Woodend Winter Arts Festival, Macedon Ranges Potters will showing their work at Woodend Community Hub, and there will be a display and demonstrations by artists from The Gallery Mount Macedon at Woodend Neighbourhood House. Two more exhibitions will take place in Woodend over the long weekend – Woodend Art Group at the railway station and Macedon Ranges Art Group at the bowling club.

🥧 KYNETON: Country Cob Bakery’s Cambodian-style fish amok pie has won the top honour at Australia’s Best Pie & Pastie Competition. It is the third year running that the Kyneton bakery has claimed the overall prize.
🗺️ WOODEND: Woodend has been announced as a finalist in the Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards. It is up against Heathcote, Koroit and Sorrento in the small town category.
🌳 MACEDON: Park rangers will be hosting a community engagement session in Macedon on Tuesday (June 6) to discuss a tree-removal plan for Mt Macedon that would create a clearer view at the Memorial Cross.
🏉 LANCEFIELD: As part of its 150th-anniversary celebrations, Lancefield Football Club has published a book that tells the club’s story. The sports editor of The Age, Chloe Saltau, was special guest at the book launch.
🐝 MACEDON RANGES: Beekeepers in the Macedon Ranges are investigating feral bee swarms in an effort to stop them displacing native birds and animals.
🍽️ WOODEND: Curtis Stone is taking Woodend to Mexico – as the name for his new restaurant. “Mum grew up in Woodend. I spent my holidays at my nan Gwen’s house and my dad now lives there, so it’s a special place to me,” he said. (The Age)
