Welcome to Your Macedon Ranges for Monday, October 2, to Sunday, October 8.
🌸 Don’t you just love springtime in the garden? The blossom is out, leaves are unfurling, and the weeds are racing out of the gates. (Well maybe not the last bit!) There’s lots of garden goodness coming in the next few weeks, starting with Garden Lovers’ Fair in Macedon this weekend. The garden at Flint Hill in Woodend will also be open for the first time in a while (Saturday). Want to know what else is coming soon? Click here for more spring garden events.

How am I doing?
Your Macedon Ranges is researched, written, and edited by me alone. Compiling it takes me 10+ hours each week. I love doing it, and the response has been incredible. I’m very grateful for your kind words.
If you find value in the newsletter, I’d so appreciate you subsidising my coffee habit … it helps with the collating and the writing!

REFLECTIONS
As part of a series on smartphone photography, professional photographer Tiffany Warner explains how you can capture reflections at Sanatorium Lake.
đź“Ť Sanatorium Lake, Lions Head Rd, Mount Macedon
Sanatorium Lake, near the top of Mt Macedon, is impressive to photograph. The body of water is mirror-like and the beautiful gum trees make a perfect backdrop.
If you go early on a cool morning after some warm weather you may be lucky enough to catch steam rising from the water, which can be moody and picturesque. This particular photograph was taken mid-morning on a clear day to emphasise the reflections.
đź’ˇ Tip: Try holding your phone upright to elongate your picture and split the image 50:50 across the middle, with the reflection as the bottom half.
Happy snapping!
Tiffany
đź“· In addition to portrait and commercial work, Tiffany Warner runs short courses on smartphone photography for social media. Find out more, and see her images, on her website and on Instagram.
In the news
🗺️ MACEDON RANGES: Tourism Macedon Ranges says the state government’s new tax on short-stay accommodation platforms will “exacerbate the emerging slump” in regional visitor spending. TMR chair Andrew Towner said visitors will choose day trips instead of overnight stays and the local economy will be “hit particularly hard”.
🏡 NEWHAM: A house in Newham that is predominantly underground is part of a growing trend for earth-sheltered homes that are designed to withstand bushfires and be naturally insulated from temperature extremes.
