How am I doing?
Your Macedon Ranges is researched, written, and edited by me alone. Compiling it takes me 10+ hours each week. I love doing it, and the response has been incredible. I’m very grateful for your kind words.
If you find value in the newsletter, I’d so appreciate you subsidising my coffee habit … it helps with the collating and the writing!

WATTLE
Professional photographer Tiffany Warner explains how to capture wattle’s golden glow.
Wattle is blooming throughout the Macedon Ranges, signalling the end of winter and flooding the landscape with a gorgeous sea of yellow.
To capture the beauty of these delicate flowers, get up close. I set my phone camera to Portrait mode to blur the background, giving the image a greater depth of field.
Next, I singled out one striking branch. Using a dark background, such as the tree trunk in this photo, really makes the yellow wattle flowers and green leaves pop.
When framing wattle, position the flowers towards the centre of the image. You may need to move your phone around to find the right distance and achieve sharp focus, so take your time until you’re happy with what you see.
💡 Tip: Try finding a dark background to make the wattle flowers pop.
Happy snapping!
Tiffany
📷 In addition to portrait and commercial work, Tiffany Warner runs short courses on smartphone photography for social media. See more of her images on Instagram.
