🎃 The Halloween party at Woodend Children’s Park will take place for the first time since 2019. Register here if you’d like to attend.

🍇 Hanging Rock Winery is preparing for its fifth Art in the Vines exhibition. Works by 26 acclaimed sculptors will be on display every day from October 22. To celebrate the exhibition, the winery will be holding a long lunch on October 15.

Monday, September 26

Sport Australian Orienteering Championships: Kyneton will host the first day of the Goldfields three-day event, which is open to the public. Enter on the day. Sacred Heart College, High St, Kyneton. Registrations 11.30am-12pm, Start 12.30pm-1pm. Adult/Junior $7.50.

Wednesday, September 28

Environment Sanatorium Eco-Trail Walk: Join Parks Victoria volunteers on a 3km moderate-level walk. Learn about plants and animals as well as the history of the Macedon Regional Park. Days Picnic Ground, Lions Head Rd, Mount Macedon. 9.30am-11.30am. Free.

Singing Woodend Warblers: Community choir. Norma Richardson Hall, Buckland St, Woodend. 7.30pm. $12.

Thursday, September 29

Nature Abuzz About Native Bees: Hear about native bees as important crop pollinators, the sorts of habitat that native bees require, and bee-friendly farming. Lancefield Mechanics Institute, The Crescent. 10am-12.30pm. Free.

Quiz Trivia Night: General knowledge quiz. Gisborne Golf Club, Daly St. 7pm. Free.

Friday, September 30

Gardening Garden Design Seminar: Michael McCoy, host of ABC TV’s Dream Gardens, and fellow garden designer Amanda Oliver present a half-day seminar. Mount Macedon Horticultural Society Hall, 583 Mount Macedon Rd, Mount Macedon. 2pm-5pm. $175 (includes entry to Garden Lovers’ Fair).

Market Woodend Farmers’ Market: Cnr High St & Forest St. 9am-1pm.

Gardening Garden Lovers’ Fair: One of the most popular garden fairs in Victoria. More than 40 stallholders. Gardening Australia guest presenter Tammy Huynh will talk about indoor plants. Garden tours of Bolobek. Plus espalier pruning demonstrations. Bolobek, 370 Mount Macedon Rd, Macedon. 10am-4pm. $16.

Open Garden Durrol: The gardens date back to the early 20th century and incorporate an enclosed garden by the noted garden designer Edna Walling. 800 Mount Macedon Rd, Mount Macedon. 10am-4pm. Adult $10, Student $6, Under-18 free.

Open Garden Lewisham: Wander through this 2.3-hectare garden and enjoy the abundance of blossoms – including weeping cherries, crab apples, camellias, and azaleas – mature trees, and bulbs. 305 Mount Macedon Rd, Mount Macedon. 10am-4pm. Adult $10, Student $6, Under-18 free.

Open Garden Viewfield: Majestic trees, stunning views, a fruit forest, a children’s fairy garden, perennial gardens and a sparkling stream through shady fern glades. Viewfield, 651 Mount Macedon Rd, Mount Macedon. 10am-4pm. Adult $10, Under-15 free.

🚑 GISBORNE: Building work on the new ambulance station will begin next month and is expected to be completed by the middle of 2023. In the meantime, paramedics will use a temporary base in Hamilton St.
