Welcome to Your Macedon Ranges for Monday, November 13, to Sunday, November 19.
🪓 Two big events are coming up this weekend. Wineries will be throwing open their cellar doors for Budburst, the Macedon Ranges wine festival. And on Saturday, woodchoppers with their gleaming axes will be swinging into action as part of the entertainment at Kyneton Show.
🌳 The gardens at Hascombe and Penola in Mount Macedon were originally due to open to the public later this month. However, due to a high level of interest, the Fox family’s properties are now expected to open for a day during the Macedon Ranges Autumn Festival in April instead.
🏡 The stunning garden at Melrose, in Malmsbury, will be opening to the public for the final time this weekend. Read an interview with owner/designer Deborah Hambleton on the Your Macedon Ranges website.
📷 In this week’s article on smartphone photography, Tiffany Warner shares a technique to make your photos more engaging. You can find the article below the list of events. Additionally, you can meet Tiffany and other Macedon artists when they open their studios on November 25-26.

How am I doing?
Your Macedon Ranges is researched, written, and edited by me alone. Compiling it takes me 10+ hours each week. I love doing it, and the response has been incredible. I’m very grateful for your kind words.
If you find value in the newsletter, I’d so appreciate you subsidising my coffee habit … it helps with the collating and the writing!

seductive lines
As part of a series on smartphone photography, professional photographer Tiffany Warner shares a technique to make your photos more engaging.
With spring well and truly in full bloom, I thought I would continue with the flower theme this week but with a twist.
Have a look for leading lines such as a fence, a row of trees, or even a winding driveway. These lines create interest and provide something for the viewer to follow, resulting in longer engagement with your photos.
For this image, I used Portrait mode to add blur to the background. I lined up my phone along the fence post towards the flowers, which were my point of interest. Always check your screen and move it around until you like what you see. By using the fence in this way, I was able to capture the roses on both sides.
💡 Tip: Look for leading lines.
Happy snapping!
Tiffany
📷 In addition to portrait and commercial work, Tiffany Warner runs short courses on smartphone photography for social media. She is also one of the Macedon artists who will be opening their studios on November 25-26.
